African Descent Society

Works to promote the participation of Canadians of African descent in Canada and to preserve black Canadian heritage. Provides public education about African descent heritage, culture, and immigration; website offers educational resources including online exhibits about black history in BC. Researches issues impacting Canadians of African descent and cooperates with governmental agencies to provide services which support their quality of life. Provides opportunities for youth ages 15 to 24 to be involved in positive change. Also facilitates cultural heritage events, including the African Descent Festival. Nonprofit society.
