Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) - Vancouver Fraser Branch

Provides community-based programs promoting resiliency, mental wellness, and recovery from mental illness for children, youth, adults, and seniors. Services include psychosocial rehabilitation, wellness and support groups, volunteer opportunities, business support, employment support, community education and training, and information and referral. Offers recreational and social programming including the Get Set and Connect Program, designed to help adults living with mental illness make connections and form meaningful relationships with others through community activities (see website for details); the Super Saturday/Sunday Club, a no-cost monthly recreation program for children and youth eight to 17 years old whose parents have a mental illness; and Pandemonium, a monthly recreation group for children and youth eight to 17 years old who live with anxiety. Operates the Social Enterprise Program for adults, which supports consumer-run businesses through entrepreneurial training and business development assistance and self-employment support. Chinese Mental Health Promotion offers support groups, recreational activities, and educational workshops for seniors in Cantonese and Mandarin. Fee-for-service programs for adults include the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training program; Responding with Respect (RWR) skill-building workshops for workplace and/or those working with the public; Resilient Minds (RM), which informs and engages first responders with trauma, mental health problems, and building resiliency; Suicide Prevention Training, which prepares key members of communities with skills to help those who are at risk of suicide. Also offers a Peer Support Program in partnership with Fraser Health. Office hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Nonprofit society.
