Offers educational, cultural, recreational, and social programs for people in the Collingwood-Renfrew area of Vancouver. Operates licensed child care programs, day camps, and a Family Place with activities for preschoolers and social time for caregivers. Also offers the Nobody's Perfect parenting program, and other first language parent support groups. Settlement services include ESL classes for adults (child care provided for some classes), and Chinese, Spanish, and Tagalog settlement workers. Services for seniors include information and referral, social activities, and fitness programs. Also offers free One-on-One Tech Support by phone or in person for seniors who need help with smartphones, tablets, laptops, or desktop computers; appointment required (604-435-0323 Local 227 or jshen@cnh.bc.ca). Funded as an Active Aging Plus program by United Way BC (UWBC) Healthy Aging Program. Youth services include the Buddy Program which matches elementary school age newcomers to Canada with peer hosts. Food security programs include rooftop, tree-crop, and community gardening; food-growing workshops and seed swaps; and low-cost lunches for seniors.
