End of Life Doula Association of Canada

Promotes end-of-life care through the membership and training of professional doulas based on recommendations made by the Ministry of Health, health authorities, and outside agencies. An End of Life Doula is a non-medical professional who empowers, educates, and advocates for persons and their families at the end of life. Doulas also encourage end of life planning prior to illness to increase the options, create a plan, and have the conversation about death in a non-emergency, emotion-filled time. Also advocates for end-of-life care doulas to be seen as part of the palliative care team. Offers an online directory of and referral to member doulas based on client needs. Serves communities across BC, including First Nation and Indigenous communities. Nonprofit society.
