Families for Addiction Recovery (FAR)

Offers support services for caregivers struggling with a loved-one's addiction and mental health issues. All services are free, confidential and virtual.

The Parent-To-Parent (P2P) Program provides peer-to-peer support for parents whose children (regardless of age) are struggling with addiction. Parents seeking support will be matched with a trained parent supporter with lived experience for eight hour-long sessions over two months. The program teaches coping and communication strategies that can help parents and their child. Intake is through the website.

The Family Support Group provides a safe virtual space where those concerned about a loved-one's substance use can discuss practical strategies, find support, and share resources and information that worked for them. Participation in the groups is free and no registration is required. This group uses the principles of Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). It is facilitated by a parent with lived experience, who also holds a BA in Psychology and an Addiction Care Worker diploma.

The Live Phone Support Line connects callers to a volunteer trained in Community Reinforcement Family Training (CRAFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) who understands those who have a loved one struggling with substance use and are looking for support. The line is staffed from noon to 3 pm EST (9 am to noon PST) Monday to Friday and from 7 pm to 9 pm EST (4 pm to 6 pm PST) Wednesday evenings.
