Free Counselling Society Canada

Grassroots, volunteer-run initiative to connect clients with financial barriers to free counselling provided by supervised counselling interns. Waitlists are minimal. Some Indigenous interns specialize for Indigenous clients. One intern specializes for crime victims and their families. Some interns have significant experience working with immigrants and refugees around settlement issues, and offer services in Arabic, Bengali, French, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu. Also offers services in Arabic, Bengali, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Cantonese, Croatian, French, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Korean, Kurdish, Malayalam, Mandarin, Persian, Pidgin English, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Serbian, Sinhala, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, and Vietnamese, and Yoruba. Potential clients should call/text or email their information, and they will be referred to the network of counselling interns. Also offers free, weekly online psychoeducation groups on common mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, and more; sessions run 45 minutes. Self or physician referral accepted. Serves BC, the Yukon, and Canada. Nonprofit society.
