Hebrew Free Loan Association of Vancouver (HFLA)

Offers a range of interest-free loans with varying loan limits. Programs include loans for: emergencies to cover food and housing, emergencies that arise due to COVID-19, security deposits, debt relief, bridging periods of unemployment, health and dental needs, the adoption process or fertility treatment, removing home barriers and obtaining assistive devices, educational assessment, student loans, legal assistance, starting a new business, Jewish life cycle events, and a child's cultural and educational trip to Israel. There is also a general loan program for needs not covered by the other loans. Loans are available to Jewish adults who must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents living in BC. Exceptions are made for students who attended high school in BC. Loans requires at least one Jewish guarantor. Loans over $5000 require a second guarantor and loans over $10,000 require a third guarantor. The second and third guarantor do not need to be Jewish. Apply online. Repayment begins 30 days of loan disbursement. Direct withdrawals are done monthly from your bank account until the loan is paid back in full. Office hours are 9 am to 3 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Closed on Jewish holidays. Nonprofit society.
