Kackaamin Family Development Centre

Residential addictions treatment for Aboriginal families. Facilitates family healing and recovery from drug and alcohol misuse; develops and delivers group learning and processing experiences, combining contemporary principles of group work with traditional healing practices; promotes personal skill development and training in parenting, communications, problem solving, conflict resolution, and goal setting; and provides a supportive therapeutic and physical environment that models a substance-free, healthy family lifestyle. Services include individual and family counselling, and life skills training. Must be referred by an addiction counsellor or a physician; can refer to addiction interventionists. Also offers 10 ministry-funded beds and aftercare; intake is by referral through Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU). Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:15 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) as a National Native Alcohol and Abuse Program (NNADAP).
