Launch Financial Education Society (Launch Okanagan)

Helps people move forward in life by providing them with the financial knowledge and community support to take the next steps towards greater independence and sustainable positive change. Programs include financial education, mentorship, and collaboration that strengthens the independence and resiliency of participants and helps them to build a more secure financial future. Programs provide essential knowledge to understand money management, personal finances, and how to save money. Dollars and Sense is a free eight-week condensed program with weekly online seminars covering budgeting, banking, spending, credit, and debt management; no geographic restrictions apply to participate. The five-week Primer for Life consists of interactive weekly one-hour in-person sessions on basic money management skills geared for Okanagan young adults who are leaving home and/or bound for post-secondary education. The Matched Savings program is a 12-month online money management program for Okanagan residents that includes monthly educational sessions as well as a savings matching component. Participants save a little each month towards an approved asset such as starting a small business, paying for a course at university, purchasing tools for a trade, or starting an RESP for their children's future education; Launch matches those savings x3 up to a maximum.
