A safe house with three single rooms for street-involved or at-risk youth ages 13 to 15, not in Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) care; all meals are provided. Aim is to give the youth a positive, non-judgemental environment, assess their needs, and help them in making plans; may include mediation between the youth and their families and/or securing safety plans, or assistance in finding alternate family placements. A referral is required by a social worker who must gain permission from the youth's guardian; if the guardian cannot be reached, then the youth may be allowed to stay for three days under a MCFD take-charge order. Maximum stay is seven days. Pets cannot be accommodated. Facility is not wheelchair accessible. Transportation to the shelter is arranged through MCFD. Serves Vancouver and Richmond youth. 24-hour intake. Funded by MCFD.
