National consortium of organizations dedicated to serving socially isolated and low economic status mothers and their families. The HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) Program uses a mother-to mother approach with families in the home to support primarily mothers in their role as teachers to their children ages three to five. Monitors all HIPPY sites in Canada and provides professional education training to program staff. Bond to Literacy Program is a 12-week early literacy group program for low-income, disadvantaged families who struggle with issues that may prevent them from making a long-term commitment to the HIPPY Program. Parents are taught new skills using a role-play method of instruction to develop a pattern of parent-child time. See website for a list of all program sites.
