Produces documentaries, educational presentations, and peer-to-peer workshops to educate and empower youth to make healthy choices around drug use and risky behaviour, including gang involvement. Delivers public education to students, parents, teachers, and community groups using a reality-based approach to promote the value of prevention and education in keeping youth safe, and in educating the public about the effects on the community of high-risk behaviour. The Junior Hockey Mentorship Program works with junior hockey teams and local police services to provide public information on the dangers of substance abuse, gangs, and other community issues. Programming includes lectures from leaders in the field of dangerous drugs and gang activity; practical field exercises in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside; training to prepare players to mentor youth in their communities; a presentation template customized for communities from which the teams come; and reservation assistance for teams coming to Vancouver. Also offers personal self-defense training sessions hosted by police judo instructors to corporate groups, sports teams, and youth groups. Hours are 11 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday.
