Receives and investigates disclosures of wrongdoing relating to or in the public sector made by public servants and other Canadians. Also helps protect whistleblowers and those who participate in investigations from reprisal. Conducts investigations in a timely, equitable, and confidential manner. The Commissioner also has authority to provide public servants and any Canadian who may be considering making a disclosure of wrongdoing, access to legal advice valued up to $3,000. Access to legal advice may also be extended to public servants who are considering making a complaint of reprisal to the Commissioner, and any person who is involved in an investigation or proceeding under the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act. Office hours are 8 am to 4 pm Eastern time Monday to Friday.
