ONE TO ONE Literacy Society

Children's literacy program that provides free one-on-one tutoring to help elementary school students develop lifelong literacy skills. Trained volunteers work in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, and Richmond schools with students identified by their classroom teacher as needing a reading-skills boost. Students meet two to four times a week with a volunteer tutor for 30 minutes at a time, in an environment where it is okay to take risks, make mistakes, and learn at their own pace. Referrals provided by classroom teachers. Nonprofit society, registered charity.
