Parent Support Services Society of BC

Supports the well-being of all families and children by empowering those in a parenting role through community connections, research, education, and advocacy. The Parent Support Circles are self-help groups for parents and anyone in a parenting role in BC, and Kinship Support Circles are specifically for those who are raising their friends or relatives' children. There are Indigenous Parent Support Circles, as well as a variety of province-wide circles focused on certain parenting experiences. Circles address parental stress, discipline, and the building of parental support systems. They are facilitated by trained volunteers and are free, confidential, and anonymous, and provide culturally safe spaces. Circles are available in English as well as Arabic, Cantonese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, and Tagalog. Circles meet online, and pre-registration required by phone, email, or online referral form (https://bit.ly/provcircleform). The GRG/Kinship Support BC Facebook Group offers opportunity for connection and sharing resources and information (www.facebook.com/groups/145017612556075). Group Facilitator Training is offered to volunteers for free, and to individuals and professionals for a fee; information and registration are available online. Office hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Serves BC. Funded in part by United Way BC (UWBC), Government of BC, and Government of Canada. Nonprofit society, registered charity.
