Pathways Serious Mental Illness Society

Provides free support services to families of those with mental illnesses, including bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorders, and borderline personality disorder, including suicide intervention. Services are offered on a drop-in basis, and include advocacy, one-on-one peer counselling, information and referral, and a monthly support group. Coordinates the 12-week Family-to-Family Education Course twice a year, which provides information on symptoms, medication, crisis management, and self-care, and is led by trained family members; registration is required. Provides public lectures at Lions Gate Hospital four times annually, and delivers presentations to students, emergency responders, and others to promote awareness. Publishes 'The Notepad' newsletter and 'NSSS Advocacy Bulletin.' Centre hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday; peer counselling is available outside these hours by appointment. Nonprofit society.
