Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre
Provides wrap-around services to people of marginalized genders, including women and transgender, nonbinary, Two-Spirit, and gender diverse individuals who have experienced sexual violence. Operates from an intersectional feminist, decolonial, anti-oppressive, and culturally affirming approach. Services include a 24-hour crisis line, chat and text support, one-to-one counselling, advocacy, support groups, 24-hour accompaniment to the hospital and/or police station, and assistance with completion of legal forms and compensation applications. Also provides support services to friends and family of survivors. Offers Elder supported, land-based, culturally relevant services for Indigenous survivors and family members of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people. Also delivers a variety of violence prevention and survivor support workshops and educational outreach in partnership with community organizations; fees are charged. All services are free and confidential. Intake and office hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Nonprofit society, registered charity.
