Self Management and Recovery Training (SMART)

Support groups across BC help people recover from all types of addictive behaviours, including substance addiction (to alcohol, nicotine, and other drugs) as well as activity addictions such as sex, gambling, eating, relationships, spending, exercise or self-injury. Supports individuals who have chosen to abstain or are considering abstinence to work towards long-term satisfaction and quality of life. Teaches how to change self-defeating thinking, emotions, and actions; principles are based on cognitive-behavioural therapy, and in particular, rational emotive behaviour therapy.
