Provides programs and initiatives that foster personalized and lifelong learning. The SelfDesign Learning Community (SDLC) program is an independent distributed learning school offering an inclusive and flexible approach for learners from kindergarten through grade 12. Encourages learners to set their own learning paths based on their passions, interests, and skills. Parents and educators work together to develop personalized learning plans that will help them achieve. Learning takes place online, at home, and in the community. Also provides access to a collection of resources offered in integrated interest-based experiences. Learners connect through online workshops and discussion groups, as well as in-person workshops, camps, and local community events. The online Village of Conversations allows families the opportunity to connect with other families, participate in local learning activities, and meet informally with other families living within the same region. Tuition free. Available to all BC residents, where at least one parent is a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, or on a work visa. Funded by BC Ministry of Education.
