Sher Vancouver

Works to educate and bring about acceptance and cross-cultural understanding surrounding LGBTQ issues including bullying, racism, and homophobia. Services include advocacy and mentorship for new Vancouver residents, sliding scale fee-for-service counselling (from $60-$120/hour), peer support, and information and referral. Also provides a social, cultural, and support group for LGBTQ South Asians and their friends, families, and allies. Individuals can book an appointment by e-mail to request services offered in Punjabi or Hindi. Offers the annual January Marie Lapuz Youth Leadership Award for youth ages 16 to 30 who have demonstrated involvement, commitment, and leadership in the LGBTQ community locally, nationally, or internationally. Also publishes 'Sher's Pink Directory' of organizations that fund and support the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Metro Vancouver.
