Society to End Homelessness in Burnaby

Works collaboratively to end homelessness in Burnaby. Comprised of representatives from government agencies, the health authority, community organizations, businesses, faith communities, and concerned citizens. Identifies and addresses homelessness in Burnaby for the benefit of the community as a whole; increases community awareness of homelessness and supports the finding of solutions; and promotes and designs housing solutions for people living in poverty. Fosters coordinated and collaborative services to anyone who is homeless or who is at risk of becoming homeless, and strives towards adequate income and the relief of poverty by assisting people to access financial services and adequate supports. Burnaby Neighbourhood Food Hub provides essential grocery items from 3 pm to 5 pm Tuesdays (except welfare cheque issue week). The Outreach Resource Centre provides access to clothing, tolietries, groceries, hot meals, pet food, harm reduction supplies, and information about community services. Accepts donations of clothing, toiletries, and non-perishable food. Centre hours are 9 am to 11:30 am Thursdays; hot meals are served at 10 am. Burnaby Mobile Shower Program is available from 4 pm to 5 pm Wednesdays and 9:30 am to 11:30 am Thursdays on a first-come, first-served basis outside The Neighbourhood Church, with a maximum of six users per hour; fresh towels and hygiene products are provided for guests. Outreach Pop Up provides outreach services and hot meals from 9:30 am to 11 am Wednesdays in the parking stalls at Jubilee Avenue near Bonsor Skate Park and Imperial Street.
