An accessible and multicultural community centre that provides programs and services to promote health, well-being, and independent lifestyles for adults ages 55 and over. Provides information and referral services in English and Spanish, help completing government forms, as well as clinics for legal advice, representation agreement planning, and taxes; appointment required. Trained volunteers provide weekly phone calls to isolated and house-bound seniors. Food services include hot lunch (12 noon Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, reservations required, fees charged), special event luncheons, afternoon teas, and the 12th Street Cafe. Recreational programs include walking club, osteoarthritis fitness, yoga, stretch and strength training, tai chi, and meditation. Health care programs include wellness clinics with a nurse, hand and foot care by licensed practical nurse and certified foot care nurse, massage therapy, and hair care; registration required, and fees charged for some services. Educational events include computer lessons, digital literacy, memory workshop, and a tablet lending library. Also offers various games, art classes, Spanish and French classes, choir, book club, a knitting group, and social events. An annual membership of $20 provides a discount for most services. Centre hours are 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Nonprofit society.
