988 Suicide Crisis Helpline

Service Description

A free, 24-hour phone and text national crisis line for individuals of all ages who are experiencing a mental health crisis and require immediate support, or who are worried about someone they know. While the focus of 988 is on suicide prevention, no one who reaches out to the service will be turned away. Support is trauma-informed and culturally affirming. Also provides access to online resources such as local helplines and crisis resources. Support is available in English and French, with interpretation available for other languages. People who are deaf or hard-of-hearing can access ASL/LSQ interpretation. Calls and texts will be directed to a network of partners in communities across the country. Funded by Government of Canada.
