Service Description

Offers addictions treatment services, including residential treatment and community support services. From May to October, operates four-week residential treatment programs at the Ormond Lake (Najeh Bayoh) Cultural Healing Camp. Participants need to be registered as Indigenous and be a resident of British Columbia or Yukon. As per First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) policy we do not accept clients from other provinces in Canada. Participants must not have used alcohol, drugs, or harmful substances for at least 14 days before attending. Program content includes addictions, solvent abuse, life skills, and relapse prevention, as well as issues such as abuse, crisis management, suicide prevention, trauma, and family violence. Referral accepted from self or other. From November to April, offers educational workshops and other support services focused on addiction, as well as one- or two-week treatment programs. Available to all northern BC First Nations communities, by request. Holistic approach promotes a cultural lifestyle free from addictions and restores a sense of pride in the Carrier and Sekani culture. Services are delivered by a multidisciplinary team, including clinical counsellors and cultural knowledge holders. Does not accept methadone maintenance clients because of accessibility issues. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) as a National Native Alcohol and Abuse Program (NNADAP).
