AMS Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC)

Service Description

Provides nonjudgmental emotional support to people of all genders who are survivors of sexualized and/or intimate partner violence and their friends and family members. Services include emotional and short-term crisis support; information about options; accompaniment to police, court, and hospital; advocacy in dealing with medical, justice, and campus systems; assistance with third-party reports; and referrals to community agencies. Offers free safer sex supplies, including condoms, lubricant, pregnancy tests, and menstrual products. Also offers public education and volunteer opportunities, and has a resource library. Roots and Resilience is an arts-based support group for survivors of sexual violence; group runs once a semester for eight weeks from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Thursdays; contact office to complete an intake. BIPOC Community of Care Circle is a space for Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Colour to gather and discuss their experiences; topics may include mental health, institutional harm, and pleasure activism. Group runs once a semester for six weeks from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm every other Wednesday. All services are free, confidential, and conducted in a private setting and are available through in-person appointments or drop-ins, by phone, or by email. Drop-in and phone support hours are 9 am to 9 pm Monday to Friday and 11 am to 7 pm Saturdays and Sundays. Hours for hospital accompaniments are 9 am to 9 pm, seven days a week.
