Animal Control - Delta
Delta Community Animal Shelter (DCAS) provides a safe temporary home for stray animals waiting for their owners to claim them, or are available for adoption. Provides injured and/or stray animals with transport and medical care when needed from 7 am to 10 pm, seven days a week. Educates the public on animal care and support; responsible for ensuring the welfare and responsible pet ownership of animals in Delta. The city Bylaws Division enforces regulations of Animal Control Bylaw. Issues include aggressive/dangerous dogs, barking dogs, and off-leash dogs. The city Engineering Department will pick up deceased animals from all Delta roadways and public streets. City of Delta and DCAS do not respond to after-hours calls about lost or found healthy stray animals and asks that finders keep the animal safe and warm until regular business hours. Call Delta Police for emergency after-hours assistance for aggressive animals posing a threat to public safety or sick/injured animals. Dog licences can be obtained online, by mail to the City of Delta, or in-person at various locations; information is available at www.delta.ca/city-hall/permits-licences/dog-licence. Shelter hours are 10 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday, and 10 am to 5 pm Saturdays and Sundays. Adoption viewing hours are by appointment from 12 pm to 5 pm Monday to Friday and 12 pm to 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.
