Service Description

Assists individuals, families, and professionals with the many different needs and concerns encountered while dealing with Huntington disease (HD). Provides a flexible program of support services for people with Huntington disease, people at risk for HD, and caregivers. Services include information and referral, education, short-term counselling, and individual advocacy. Offers regular support groups led by trained professionals who can help participants gain a better understanding of the disease process, grieve losses, and explore strategies for coping; groups are offered in Metro Vancouver, Abbotsford, and Victoria. Also provides education, consultation, and support to health, social service, and community workers who are involved in the care of individuals with HD and/or their families. Participates in community development activities and national advocacy that promotes systemic change contributing to the well-being of people with HD and their families.
