BC Settlement and Integration Services (BC SIS)

Funds community agencies to provide programs that support the social and economic integration of newcomers who are not eligible to receive services from federally funded settlement programs. Programs offer immigration and settlement services, labour market services, and language services. Programs serve refugee claimants, temporary foreign workers, post-secondary international students, provincial nominees who are awaiting permanent residency approval, and naturalized citizens who despite being in Canada for several years, may continue to be dependent on settlement support; there may be eligibility restrictions for some services.
