BC Women's Provincial Milk Bank

Provided by: BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre

Service Description

Provides pasteurized donor human milk to premature and sick babies whose own mothers can't provide any or enough breast milk. The Milk Bank screens milk donors, collects and pasteurizes donated milk, and distributes it to hospitals across BC. Donor milk is available by a doctor's or midwife's prescription and is prioritized for children with the greatest need. If donor milk is required after the baby leaves the hospital, milk can be picked up from BC Women's in Vancouver, or sent by courier to client's home (if client lives outside the Greater Vancouver area). See website for a list of drop-off locations for donors. Milk bank hours are 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday; hours for placing orders are 8 am to 11:30 am Monday to Friday; pick-up hours are 2 pm to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday.
