Service Description

Drop-in centre provides support services including referrals to community resources to anyone of any age in the Port Alberni area from 9 am to 4 pm daily. A hot breakfast is served from 9 am to 11 am, a hot lunch from 11 am to 1 pm, and a hot dinner from 5 pm to 6 pm Monday to Friday. A takeaway dinner is provided in the community via a food truck between 5 pm to 6 pm Monday to Saturday. Free personal care and hygiene items may be available. The Nurses' Station offers flu shots, testing (tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis C), foot care, and dressing/wound care services; nurses meet with patients between 10:30 am to 12 noon on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. There is also a doctor on site most Fridays from 10:30 am to 12 noon, and mental health workers also assist patients. An income assistance worker helps with completing forms from 10:30 am to 12 noon on Wednesdays. Spiritual counselling is available to those in need. When weather is declared as extreme, also acts as an Extreme Weather Response (EWR) shelter where people experiencing homelessness can take refuge.
