Business Law Clinic

Provided by: University of British Columbia (UBC)

Service Description

Law students provide supervised business-oriented legal services at no cost to those in the Lower Mainland with limited means of paying for legal advice; clients can include but are not limited to start-ups, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organizations. Legal services provided by the clinic include advice regarding business structures, drafting legal documents, reviewing privacy policies and waivers, and other legal services based on a client's unique legal issue. Does not assist with litigation, court or tribunal work. The clinic is only offered on a term basis as part of an academic year (September to December, and January to April), and is not appropriate for matters that require a fast turnaround time or are otherwise time-sensitive. Clients must be comfortable that deliverables are produced over the course of an academic term. Applications are online and accepted year-round with service starting from mid-September to late-March of the following year.
