Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit (CRSB)

Service Description

Provides $500 per week for up to a maximum of four weeks between September 27, 2020 and May 7, 2022 for workers (including self-employed individuals) who: are unable to work for at least 50% of the week because they contracted COVID-19; are self-isolated for reasons relating to COVID-19; or have underlying health conditions, are undergoing treatments or have contracted sicknesses that, in the opinion of a medical practitioner, nurse practitioner, person in authority, government, or public authority, would make them more susceptible to COVID-19. Eligible individuals must:
  • Reside in Canada
  • Be at least 15 years old
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Have earned at least $5,000 in 2019, 2020, or in the 12 months before the date you apply from EI, self-employment income, or maternity and parental benefits from EI
  • Not be receiving paid leave from their employer
  • Not also have applied for or receive the Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB), Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB), short-term disability benefits, workers' compensation benefits, or Employment Insurance (EI) benefits
Eligible individuals will need to apply each week, if their situation continues. The four weeks do not need to be taken consecutively. Deadline to apply for the final period is July 6, 2022. Applications accepted by phone or through MyCRA Account. CRCB Application Line hours are 6 am to 3 am EST Monday to Sunday. CRA Benefits Information phone line hours are 8 am to 8 pm (local time) Monday to Friday and 9 am to 5 pm (local time) Saturdays.
