Service Description

Resources for UBC staff, students, and faculty who are blind, visually impaired, or have print disabilities. Houses a collection of university-level textbooks, course support materials, reference books, and leisure reading in recorded digital audio, Braille, large print, and electronic text. Technical resources include adapted computer workstations with voice synthesis, screen image enlargement, dedicated print-to-voice reading computers, and closed circuit television (CCTV). Audio and electronic text are available for interlibrary loan; non-circulating Braille materials are available for use in the reading room. Volunteer narrators create talking books for students, staff, and faculty with visual disabilities. Hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; 8:30 am to 5 pm Tuesdays; and 8:30 am to 4 pm Thursdays.
