Child and Family Clinic (Child Protection Service Unit)

Provides health services to children ages 13 and under who have been sexually assaulted or abused, physically or emotionally abused, or seriously neglected. Referral accepted from physician, police, Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), or Indigenous child and family services agency. Must be accompanied by parent or guardian, although the child can choose to have the parent in the room or not. If less than 72 hours have passed since the assault, and it is between 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday, parents should call the Child and Family Clinic. If less than 72 hours since the assault and outside these hours, go to emergency where a 24-hour child protection doctor is on 24-hour call and will be notified. If there is suspicion that a crime was committed, MCFD will be called, and they will in turn call the police.
