Service Description

?Multi-service drop-in centre gives hope and support to vulnerable individuals and families through the provision of social services and practical assistance focusing on the basic necessities of life. Helps meet the immediate and short-term needs of people in distress through emergency assistance with food, clothing, and household goods, as well as lay counselling and emergency disaster services. Offers access to laundry and shower facilities from 8 am to 11 am every day. Also provides access to computers and phones. The Outreach Team provides outreach and case worker support to people who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, difficult to house, or in a crisis situation. An onsite mental health counsellor, nurse practitioner, physician, and income assistance worker meet clients on a weekly basis. Determines housing needs, and provides referrals to services to meet immediate needs. Also provides help with obtaining identification and income assistance. Connects individuals to housing options by providing support with the application, move-in process, appointments and/or housing viewings, and liaison with landlords; rent subsidies may be available to support this process. Provides links to culturally appropriate services, as well as referrals to other support such as health care, counselling, and addiction recovery services. Funded as a Homelessness Outreach Program (HOP) by BC Housing. A walk-in Medical Clinic offers doctoral care on Thursday afternoons to clients who may not have the adequate ID to find treatment elsewhere. A full-time, on-site licensed practical nurse offers foot care, blood pressure clinics, diabetes and STD information and testing, vaccinations and flu clinics as well as advocacy for medical/mental health referrals and treatment; follow-up is offered as required. Pathway of Hope provides intensive individualized supports for participants living in poverty to achieve short- and long-term goals using a strengths-based case management approach. The Angel Tree Program provides Christmas presents for children in families that are unable to buy gifts; registration is required. Also operates an emergency shelter, supportive independent living units, a thrift store, an adult day program, a cafe, and a meal centre from this location; all are listed separately. Serves Abbotsford and Mission. Centre hours are 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Saturday, and 7 am to 2 pm on Sundays. Office hours are 9 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
