Service Description

Gives hope and support to vulnerable individuals and families through the provision of social services and practical assistance focusing on the basic necessities of life. Helps meet the immediate and short-term needs of people in distress through emergency assistance with food, thrift store clothing and household goods vouchers, lay counselling, and emergency disaster services. Clothing vouchers are available to seniors age 65 and over (with ID and proof of a New Westminster address), people who are homeless in New Westminster, and people living in a New Westminster shelter (with letter from the shelter). The Backpack Program provides backpacks to low-income families in late August; pre-registration is required. Operates the Christmas Bureau for New Westminster that provides toys for families with children. Also operates food programs at this location; listed separately. Serves Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody. Office hours are 9 am to 3 pm Mondays, 9 am to 12 noon Saturdays, and 9 am to 1 pm Sundays.
