Community Bat Programs of BC

Provided by: BC Conservation Foundation (BCCF)

Service Description

A network of community bat projects across BC with the aim to increase the number of known roost sites; encourage landowners to protect their bat roost sites or use bat-friendly exclusion methods; promote the Annual Bat Count to monitor bat populations, and enhance bat habitat. The website has a directory of regional programs; information and publications on bat species, conservation, research, bat boxes, human health, excluding bats from a building, and other topics; resources for educators; opportunities to get involved; and more. Individuals can report dead/sick bats or bats on their property by emailing, calling, or using the online form. If needed, a biologist may be able to visit and help develop a conservation-based strategy for removing bats from the property. Offered in partnership with Ministry of Environment. Funded by Government of Canada.
