Community Brain Injury Program for Children and Youth in BC

Service Description

Funds and coordinates acute rehabilitation and support services for children and youth up to age 19 who are diagnosed with acquired brain injury from falls, tumors, infections, strokes, and other causes. Youth must require rehabilitation and support services, have been injured or diagnosed within the past 12 months, have resided in BC for at least a year, and not be receiving any third-party funding. Community-based, short-term (up to six months), intensive rehabilitation services may include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech/language pathology, psychology, social work, rehabilitation assistance services, and neuropsychological screening. Referrals can be made by parents or community or medical professionals, and be faxed; must include medical documentation. Province-wide program.
