Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)

Provides free Tax Preparation Clinics, hosted by community organizations in collaboration with CRA. Volunteers are trained to prepare income tax and benefit returns for eligible individuals; requirement is a low or modest income and a simple tax situation. Those who are eligible for the service may include Aboriginals, social assistance recipients, newcomers to Canada, people with disabilities, seniors, and students. Services are generally offered between February and April each year at various locations across Canada.
