Disaster Psychosocial Services (DPS) Program

A diverse group of professional and paraprofessionals with expertise in mental health and psychosocial support who can be deployed across BC to support communities, emergency support services, first responders, and others affected by emergencies and disasters. DPS volunteers specialize in Psychological First Aid (PFA) and can be deployed within 24 hours of a service request. The DPS Volunteer Network also includes a group of qualified facilitators who deliver training courses such as PFA in partnership with communities to enhance local psychological preparedness and resiliency. Part of the Provincial Disaster Psychosocial Team of Health Emergency Management BC (HEMBC), Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA).
