Drop-In Parent and Child Programs

Service Description

Informal drop-in for parents with children from birth to six years of age. Supervised playroom offers crafts and other activities. Programming includes: Play and Learn Drop In provides a welcoming environment for families with children newborn to six years of age to socialize, enjoy singing, music and stories, take part in outdoor activities, learn about community resources, and receive parenting support and information. Offered at Richmond Family Place and other Richmond locations; see calendar for details. A similar program, Play, Learn, Get Ready for School, is offered 11 am on Wednesdays and Thursdays to families attending the Richmond Food Bank (100-5800 Cedarbridge Way). Sing and Play Drop In provides parents and caregivers of children newborn to five years of age the opportunity to learn songs and rhymes, and to participate in discussions about child care and child development. Offered from 1 pm to 2:30 pm Mondays at Cambie Library (11590 Cambie Road), and 1 pm to 2:30 pm Fridays at Steveston Library (4111 Moncton Street). Dad and Child Breakfast is a weekly breakfast program for fathers and male caregivers and their children newborn to six years of age. Runs from 9 am to 10:30 am Saturdays and includes a nutritious breakfast followed by playtime. Cost is $2. Family Fun Cafe is an evening drop-in from 4:30 pm to 7 pm Thursdays where families attending the Richmond Food Bank (100-5800 Cedarbridge Way) can enjoy an evening play-and-learn session with a light dinner. Toddler Time (For Chinese Speaking Families) is a free program for Chinese speaking parents, caregivers and their children ages 10 months to two years. Offers stories, play, and parent education with a focus on family resources in Richmond. Offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; see calendar for times and locations.
