Service Description

Provides an alternative to incarceration for non-violent drug offenders who have a drug addiction, and are charged with possession or trafficking small amounts of a controlled substance, or Canadian criminal code offences related to supporting a drug habit (such as burglary). Not for commercially-motivated offenders, those who commit the offence with children present, or those who involve someone under the age of 18. Program includes relapse prevention, stabilization, and treatment; methadone maintenance may be included. Program length is a minimum of 14 months. Participants graduating from the program are in recovery from their addiction, have stable housing, and have secured employment or are involved in training or volunteering. Upon graduation, the participant will receive a non-custodial sentence. Court sits 9:30 am and 2 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. Receives funding from Department of Justice Canada and the BC Government.
