Early Childhood Programs

Service Description

Provides programming for children under six years of age. Programs are developed with the whole family in mind; parents and extended family members are invited to attend the groups with their children to learn about developmental milestones, socialization, play, creativity, early learning, health and wellness, discipline, behavioural issues and strategic interventions. Pitter Patter Circle Time, a skills development drop-in for parents, expectant parents, caregivers, and their children up to three years of age; provides opportunities for family playtime, stories, songs, arts and crafts, and the change to make connections with other families. Runs 10 am to 11:30 am Mondays from January to March, April to June, and September to December at Purpose Society, 422 6th Street, New Westminster. Family Circle in the Park, a recreational drop-in for parents and their children ages three to six in Queen's Park; runs 10 am to noon on Thursdays from September to December. Physical Literacy, Art, Nature and Science (PLANS) offers early childhood exploration in a natural setting, and encourages children to connect with nature by using sight, smell, sound and touch while exploring the ecosystem that surrounds them. All programs receive Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) funding from Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and accept self-referrals.
