Emergency Sexual Assault Services (ESAS)

Service Description

Community-based support program provides victim services to sexual assault survivors of any age or gender, whether or not the crime has been reported to police. Services include emotional and practical support; advocacy; information about the justice system and case progression; court orientation; accompaniment to court, hospital, and police; form completion assistance; safety planning assistance; and referrals to community resources. Provides individual counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Also offers third party reporting to victims of sexualized assault; staff report the assault to police on behalf of the victim who remains anonymous. Open referral; application forms are online. Interpretation services may be available by request. Hours are 9 am to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 9 am to 3:30 pm Fridays. Serves Burnaby and New Westminster. Funded by Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General (MPSSG).
