Service Description

Offers a wide variety of employment programs, including specialized employment and training programs for immigrants and refugees, and older workers. Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants helps unemployed and underemployed skilled immigrants find employment that uses their pre-arrival skills, experience, and education. Stream 1 focuses on individuals with education and experience in an in-demand management occupation in BC who require language or skill upgrading. Offers services for newcomers with experience in corporate; retail and wholesale; hospitality; and insurance, real estate, and financial brokerage. Services include career counselling specific to their occupation, support to get recertification education (where relevant), English language training specific to their occupation if they do not meet the language standards of their industry, and industry-specific supports that helps applicants to succeed. Stream 2 program focuses on individuals needing assistance with upgrading credentials for a regulated BC occupation; services include individual career coaching and help with building an action plan, financial support for upgrading skills (including language training), and help with preparing for exams. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by Government of BC, and Government of Canada.
