Service Description

Offers various specialized employment and training services. Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants helps unemployed and underemployed skilled immigrants find employment that uses their pre-arrival skills, experience, and education. Specific program streams are available for health (newcomers with training and skills as a nurse, physician, sonographer, or health care assistant); and education and social services (newcomers with training and skills as a social service worker, community service worker, university professor, college or vocational instructor, early childhood educator, or ECE teaching assistant. The Entrepreneur Works program provides young adults ages 15 to 29 with self-employment training and coaching, as well as financial help for start-up equipment and additional training. Encore Careers (55+) provides employment supports and skills training to assist individuals age 55 and over in their job search for sustainable employment or self-employment. Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) provides free English classes based on clients' existing knowledge of the English language. Referral required from Surrey Language Assessment Centre (604-507-4150) or another LINC provider. See website for program eligibility requirements. Office hours are 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by Government of BC and Government of Canada.
