Family Preservation and Maternal Child Health (On Reserve)

Service Description

Provides support and resources for families to increase their ability to safely care for and nurture their children. Serves families who are considering having children and families with children up to age 19, living on reserve in Burns Lake, Cheslatta, Lake Babine, Nadleh Whut'en, Nee Tahi Buhn, Saik'uz, Skin Tyee, Stellat'en, Takla Lake, Wet'suwet'en, and Yekooche. Aims to keep children and families together and ensure the holistic wellness and safety needs of children are met. Services include prenatal education, early childhood development programs, life skills and parenting education, support groups, and advocacy. Services are offered in the home or in the community and are based on cultural practices of each family's own Nation of origin, traditional knowledge, and evidence-based best practices. Referral accepted from self or other. Regular hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and First Nations Health Authority (FNHA).
