Service Description

Little Mountain Riley Park (LM-RP) Neighbourhood Food Network (NFN) is a grassroots network of community members, businesses, and organizations that ensures local residents have access to healthy food through programs such as the Riley Park Community Garden (RPG) and through the Yard Garden Harvest Project; offered in partnership with UBC Farm Practicum Program, with excess produce donated to the Food Hub Program. Food grown is part of the weekly Food Distribution Program which includes delivery of food hampers on a quarterly basis and meals to seniors as well as grocery gift cards for families. The Riley Park Farmers Market Donation Station is a place where community members and farmers donate money and produce for the food distribution program on a monthly basis. The Community Fridge and Pantry provides a 24/7 accessible fridge, freezer, and pantry for local residents, offered in partnership with the Vancouver Community Fridge Project; located outside of Little Mountain Neighbourhood House. Fridge and freezer donations include cooked and home-cooked meals; excludes donations of unsealed or half-consumed food; mouldy or expired produce; raw or cooked fish and meat; food that has been recently recalled; food that poses known health risks (such as Salmonella); or alcohol. Also accepts non-food items including baby formula, pet food and supplies, individually wrapped eating utensils, sanitary/hygiene products such as personal protective equipment (PPE), and Naloxone kits; items must be unopened/unused. Food programs serve residents from Cambie Street to Knight Street and 16th Avenue to 49th Avenue. Office hours are 9 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
