Service Description

Food programs accessible to Simon Fraser University (SFU) students include a voucher program, community fridge, and food rescue program. The Food Bank Program is for students with valid student ID. Offers a $25 food voucher that can be redeemed at specific supermarkets near SFU campuses. A maximum of three vouchers can be issued each semester. Service is confidential. Applications can be made online on the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS) website. Vouchers are picked up at the SFSS office. For questions, email studentcentre@sfss.ca. Hours are 10 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. The Community Fridge is a low-barrier program where students can donate and access food. Food can include, produce, dairy, bread, pantry items, grab and go items, and prepared meals made from commercial kitchens. Does not accept expired food, rotting food, home cooked food, leftovers, or open packages of food. It is located at 1341-SUB 3100 on the first level of the Student Union Building at SFU Burnaby, next to the kitchenette. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Includes multiple partners such as SFSS, Embark Sustainability, SFU's Office of Community Engagement, Food Mesh, and the Burnaby Primary Care Network.
