Service Description

A free, confidential online testing service for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, and hepatitis C. Online, users set up an account, and complete a sexual history questionnaire to determine what tests are recommended. Users can print out a lab form to bring to participating LifeLabs locations where they can give a blood and/or urine sample, and may be given a swab kit to take home. Users will be contacted by email when test results are ready. If any results are positive or inconclusive, a nurse will discuss treatment or retesting. The service is recommended for individuals who want to keep up with regular STI testing; do not want to see a health care provider for STI testing every time; or have trouble getting to a clinic for testing. Not recommended when individuals (or their sex partners) have symptoms of an STI, have had sex with someone who has an STI, are victims of sexual assault, or need tests for STIs that the service does not cover. If individuals require a printed copy of their test results with their name on it, it is recommended that they get tested at a BC Centre for Disease Control STI clinic (listed independently), a public health or walk-in clinic, or at their family doctor. Available through LifeLabs in Duncan, Kamloops, Nelson, Vancouver, and Victoria.
